The Rich Agricultural Sector of Nueva Vizcaya🚜🌱

These are the livelihoods that will be destroyed by corporate greed if our government chooses to prioritize profit over people.

The recent opposition from anti-mining residents of Brgy. Bitnong, Sitio Keon against the forced entry of Woggle Corporation, Inc’s employees, accompanied by local authorities, has laid bare to the public the rich natural resources that large-scale foreign mining companies are seeking to exploit and siphon off ancestral lands of indigenous people.

Mining entities such as OceanaGold Philippine Inc. (OGPI), FCF Minerals Corporation, and Woggle Corporation stand as the largest perpetrators of the destruction of the environment, curtailment of human rights from anti-mining communities, and the expansion of mining tenements across the province.

Bishop Jose Elmer Mangalinao of Bayombong has warned the public that over 14 more mining firms are seeking access into the province’s deposits with over 60 companies expressing interest in the entirety of Region 2. Opposition against these mining firms have been swift and loud with the recent implementation of the Writ of Preliminary Injunction on January 23, 2026 exposing the barbaric lengths that foreign corporations are willing to take in the name of profit.

With this in mind, the Climate Change Network for Community-based Initiatives recently took part in the Environmental Investigative Mission that was spearheaded by the Defend Nueva Vizcaya Movement along with its other environmental organizations. CCNCI was able to document the rich agricultural sector within the barricades of Sitio Keon and gained invaluable insight on the importance of Nueva Vizcaya in the national agricultural production.
