CCNCI Hosts a Compost Production Training at Sorsogon State University - Castilla Campus

In partnership with Sorgon State University - Castilla Campus, The Climate Change Network for Community Led-Initiatives (CCNCI) hosts the Compost Production Training in the afternoon of November 27, held in the Farmer Training Center of SorSU - CC. Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Campus Director Ian G. Balbalosa presents the opening remarks to an audience of students and farmer participants.

Research & Documentation Coordinator Brian Gabriel J. Buenaobra presents the research findings on their research concerning the effects of compost on pechay.

Tarabang Para sa Bicol Inc. (TABI) Executive Director Aubrey Versoza shared compost principles and its production.

CCNCI Executive Director Dr. Virgina Talens shared the importance of compost making and agroecology in combating climate change. She explains that such means are solutions at the hands of the people, stressing that farmers remain at the forefront in implementing concrete climate solutions Dr. Talens emphasizes that through joint collective action can we only achieve climate justice. She challenges the youth to mobilize and organize in order to be a part of the continued campaign to save our environment and defend our future.


BS Agriculture - Major in Crop Science & Bachelor of Agricultural Technology students from SorSU - CC and farmers from different organizations and collectives across Bicol reacted positively to the talks presented by the speakers sharing their thoughts and insights to the importance of agroecology and its implementation.

Former staff and students from the Bicol Farmer School (BFS) also conducted a live demonstration of the production of organic to capacitate the farmers in hopes that they apply their learnings to their own farm lands.
